Gaanasudha at Hampi utsava

If music be the food of life, play on...

Event : Hampi utsava
Where : Hampi
When : Nov 2, 2006

It was a beautiful setting in the historical city of Hampi. As twilight slowly cast its shadows on the rocks and dusk was made more beautiful by distinctive shaped stone sculptures and unique structures, the Virupaksha temple was highlighted by strategically placed spotlights throwing the shadows in deep focus. Adding to the beauty of the evening were soulful tunes of Sugama sangeetha sung by Gaanasudha artistes on the beautiful created podium.

Welcome to the Gaanasudha blog

Gaanasudha is a Sugama sangeetha academy based in Rajajinagar in the garden city of Bangalore, Karnataka, India.

All great things have humble beginnings, as they say. Gaanasudha was founded by Somasundaram during his student days. Lending him support in this initiative were his sisters, brothers and later on his wife and two daughters.

What does Gaanasudha mean?
Derived from Sanskrit or Samskrita, the language of the gods, Gaana means Music and Sudha means Nectar or Amrutha. Thus Gaanasudha means the 'Nectar of music.'
